Dr. Abhinanda Sarkar, GE Research, Bangalore

Abhinanda Sarkar is Quality Leader and Senior Scientist with GE Global Research in Bangalore. He graduated from the Indian Statistical Institute and obtained his Ph.D. from Stanford University. His current interests are in reliability engineering and financial risk management.





Dr. Aditya Jain, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad


Aditya Jain is currently an Assistant Professor of Operations and Information Technology Management at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India. Prior to obtaining his doctoral degree in Operations Management from University of Rochester, Simon school of Business, he worked in Indian automotive industry. As a part of Supply chain management strategic business group of Tata AutoComponent Systems he carried out projects in logistics (between automotive OEM and key component suppliers), productivity improvement and quality management. Aditya received his B.Tech in Chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His current research interests include inventory-logistics issues in global supply chains, strategic operations management and supply contract design.





Dr. Amit Mehra

Amit Mehra is an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Area at the Indian School of Business. His current research interests are in the areas of economics of contract design in IT based industries, open source software, studying nuances of outsourcing such as comparisons between captives and third parties and multi-sourcing, managing software product pricing and product introduction strategies and advertising on the Internet. He has presented his research in conferences and universities all over the world such as at Maryland, Hawaii, Rochester, Dallas and Montreal to name a few. Previous to joining at ISB, Prof. Mehra obtained his Ph.D. in the Economics of Information Systems from the University of Rochester.





Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala is Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India and was department Chair till recently. He received his B.Tech degree from IIT, Kanpur, and his MS and Ph.D degrees from the University of Maine. From 1979 to 1981, he was with Washington State University as Assistant Professor. Since 1981, he has been teaching at IIT, Madras. Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala has been awarded Padma Shri in the year 2002. He has been awarded Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1998, Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Research Award for the year 1997, Millennium Medal at Indian Science Congress in the year 2000 and H. K. Firodia for "Excellence in Science & Technology" for the year 2002, Shri Om Prakash Bhasin Foundation Award for Science & Technology for the year 2004, Awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Lecture Award by INSA for the year 2006 and IBM Innovation and Leadership Forum Award by IBM for the year 2006. He is a Fellow of INAE, IAS, INSA and NAS. Dr. Jhunjhunwala is a Director in the Board of SBI. He is also a Board member of several companies in India, including TTML, BEL, Polaris, 3i Infotech, Sasken, Tejas, NRDC, and IDRBT. He is member of Prime Minister's Setup Scientific Advisory Committee .





Dr. Brenda Dietrich, IBM

Brenda Dietrich is an IBM Fellow and Vice President of the Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences Department at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. She holds a BS in Mathematics from UNC and an MS and Ph.D. in OR/IE from Cornell. Her research includes manufacturing scheduling, services resource management, transportation logistics, integer programming, and combinatorial duality. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the IE/MS department of Northwestern University, a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for both IMA (Minnesota) and DIMACS (Rutgers), and IBM's delegate to MIT's Supply Chain 2020 program. She has participated in numerous INFORMS, Math Programming, SIAM, CLM, and APICS conferences. She holds a dozen patents, has co-authored numerous publications, and co-edited the book Mathematics of the Internet: E-Auction and Markets. She has been a member of the INFORMS Roundtable, served on the INFORMS board as VP for Practice, was chair of the advisory committee for the first two Practice meeting, and is currently the Past- President of INFORMS. Additionally she has served on the editorial board of M&SOM and is currently on the editorial board of Logistics Research Quarterly.






Dr. Goutam Dutta, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad

He is a Professor and the Chairperson, Research and Publications Committee at IIM, Ahmedabad. He has done B.Tech (Hons) from IIT, Kharagpur, MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur and PhD from Northwestern University, USA. He has 11 years of Industrial experience in Project Engineering, Information Technology, Production Planning, and in the Management Science group. He is in the editorial board of Journal of Operational Research Society, International Transactions in Operational Research and International Journal of Revenue Management. He is probably the first in India to design and develop an Executive Development Program on Revenue Management He is the winner of prestigious Franz Edelman Award (INFORMS) 1994, OR for Development Prize 1993 and finalist in EURO Excellence in Practice Award 2006.







Dr. Guruduth Banavar, IBM India Research Lab, Bangalore

Dr. Guruduth Banavar is the Associate Director of IBM's India Research Laboratory (IRL), Bangalore, and also heads IRL's Service Innovation and Research Center. He started IBM's new research group in Bangalore in 2005, where a world-class team is now focused on developing innovative technologies for improving and differentiating the service delivery capabilities of IBM Global Services. He and his group work in the area of Service Science, and have developed innovations in process optimization, resiliency assessment, knowledge management, and solution development from reusable assets. Previously, Dr. Banavar was the Senior Manager of the Pervasive Infrastructure Department at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York, where he led a research team working on Pervasive Computing. Since joining IBM Research in 1995 after his PhD, he has developed technology innovations in areas like synchronous collaboration, content-based publish-subscribe systems, and platform-independent application development. Dr. Banavar has published more than 40 research papers, has filed more than 25 patents (9 US patents granted), chaired major technical conferences and workshops in the field, and served on 3 PhD committees. Mr. Hiroyuki Okano, IBM


Hiroyuki is a manager of Optimization & Algorithms group at IBM Tokyo Research Laboratory. He received B.S. (1988) and M.S. (1990) degrees in Information Science from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He joined Tokyo Research Laboratory, IBM Japan, in 1990, and has started research on combinatorial optimization from 1995. He is an editorial committee member of Communications of the Operations Research Society of Japan.









Prof. Ishwar Murthy, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore


He holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and a M.B.A. from NorthEast Louisiana University. He obtained his Ph.D in Management Science from Texas A & M University. He has received several grants including University Research Council Grant, College of Business Grant, Louisiana Education Quality and Support Fund (LEQSF) and Research Competitiveness Grant. Professor Murthy has several refereed publications and conference proceedings to his credit. Prior to joining IIM Bangalore, he was a tenured faculty member at Louisiana State University, USA. He has also served as a visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University, USA, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.





Prof. Jayant Haritsa, Indian Institute of Science

Jayant Haritsa is a Professor in the Supercomputer Education & Research Centre and in the Department of Computer Science & Automation at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He received the BTech degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras), and the MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin (Madison). His research interests are in database systems.






Prof. M. Narasimha Murty, Indian Institute of Science

M. Narasimha Murty is a professor and chairman of the department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc. He obtained his PhD in 1982 for his work on divide-and-conquer clustering, under the supervision of Prof. G. Krishna. He has guided 10 PhDs in the area of pattern clustering. His survey paper on clustering coauthored by Profs Anil K Jain and Patrick Flynn has around 2200 citations as per Google scholar. One of his papers coauthored by Dr. K. Krishna, an IBM-IRL researcher, on Genetic K-Means algorithm is also frequently cited. He is a member of the team winning the citation prediction task of KDD Cup-2003 organized by the Cornell university. He has Received the Alumni Award for Excellence in Research for Engineering from IISc in 2007.











Prof. Ravi Kannan, Microsoft Research India
Prof. Ravi Kannan is a principal researcher in Microsoft Research India. He is receipient of Fulkerson Prize in Discrete Mathematics in 1991.











Dr. K. Ravi Kumar, General Motors (India Science Lab)

K Ravikumar is the Lab Group Manager for Manufacturing Enterprise Information Systems Modeling Group at the GM R&D- India Science Lab, Bangalore. He received his B. Tech from Andhra University, M. Tech from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut , and Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His research interests are in supply chain management, demand sensing, and manufacturing capacity planning.






Prof. P.S. Sastry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Professor P.S. Sastry is a professor in the department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is associated with LEARNING SYSTEMS & MULTIMEDIA LAB in the department.
