Course Contents
Performance evaluation methods, Analytical versus simulation modelling, Performance measurement and benchmarking. Workload modelling, Random variables. Commonly used distributions. Stochastic processes, Markov chain models of computer systems, steady-state and transient analyses, queueing models, Single server and multi-server queues, open and closed queueing networks. Discrete event simulation, Simulation Languages, random number generation and testing, model verification and validation, analysis of simulation results, confidence intervals, variance reduction techniques. Case studies of analytical and simulation studies of computer systems.
